over the weekend a painted a mural at new local cafe john gorilla, which opened it’s doors to the public yesterday. this was exciting for two reasons: 1. i now have a cute cafe with decent coffee and seemingly delicious food and treats within metres of my house, and 2. this was the first mural i have both designed and painted, and i found the whole process incredibly satisfying. admittedly my painting technique leaves much to be desired, but at the same time i’m learning to love my own wobbly lines (just i don’t look too close).
john gorilla: 49 pearson st, brunswick west. open 7.30am – 4pm everyday. more info here. if you visit keep your eyes open for a table which i also painted. (last photo stolen from three thousand).
it is totally gorgeous. x
I love it & have sat under it twice already! Will look for the table.
Looks ace! Can’t imagine painting a mural. That standing-up thing must feel so strange/awkward. Nice article (and photos!) on Broadsheet too. The cafe looks gorgeous – love their timber ruler benchtop.
awesome!! looks rad, i would love to have a latte against this gorgeous wall – next time i’m in Melbs! i’m freaking out about doing a ‘live paint’ on the weekend, i haven’t done one for years – gonna be wobbly lines galore! scary town! This is not scary though – nice work! xox
