well, here i am again – finally. bit of a break, yes, but i was busy too: 3 insane deadlines, raph away, an overload of kid-based commitments, a quick solo trip to sydney. i’ve also been feeling that between instagram and pintrest there has been enough of me out there on the internets. those 2 combined are almost like a mini-version of this blog (minus the words – how nice). and you know, i don’t want to over do it with this whole online presence business.
but, there is a lot to report. the above mentioned insane deadlines were quick jobs for telstra, virgin airlines and a new NY based magazine (thanks JW). i also went to the opening of megan morton’s ‘the school‘, which was amazing, and worthy of it’s whole own blog post a bit later. and possibly the most exciting thing: receiving samples of my favourite job to date.
it was orchestrated through the geniuses at GAS in japan, and involved 6 female artists designing a range of sweets (and accompanying packaging) for isetan department store. designing sweets? SWEETS! it was well and truly a dream come true – chocolates, jellies, cookies and a few other things in between:

it all turned out so beautifully. you can read an interview with me on the project here, as well as with the other ladies involved in the project too (make sure you check out emily forgot - my new favourite! nice blog too).
my only problem now: what to do with the many boxes of sweets sitting on my desk. surely you can’t archive chocolates? surely you have to eat them instead?

oh yum! delightful designs too!
since you’ve photographed the chocolate for visual archive, you’ll have to try them for the taste test part now…
Hi! Your design both of sweets and packaging is amazing! I really admire your style: so colorful and playful really perfectly espressed here
xx
ohhhhhhhh nice one beci! I hope they’re an ongoing product, would love to see them/buy/eat them on my next trip!
Perhaps you should have a giveaway?:-)
Those sweets look amazing! They look almost too good to eat!
THESE ARE EXCELLENT! Do you know if there is a way to get them shipped to Australia?
Clare
@ clare: unfortunately they dont ship to oz. boo to that.
@ pru: i hope they are ongoing… but not sure. go see anyway!
Yes to all of the above, especially Luther Vandross and the ice cream truck!
I would also have a dilemma about eating the archive, but my sweet tooth has such super-powers that I’m sure the boxes would be empty in record time.
And then I’d get all guilty and run around Princes Park for a whole day, and then get my butt kicked at capoeira. But that’s just me!
Must. Eat.Sweets.
I love that interview so much Beci!! xx
Aaaahhhhhh love!!!
I would be eating way too many of those gorgeous treats!!
Oh my god. That’s an absolute dream job, & SO so Japanese. The packaging AND the contents! Big congrats. It looks absolutely gorgeous. You must have been smiling your head off when you got the brief for that one! I wonder if you can coat the sweets in resin for posterity?!
